Walking and cycling
Do you want to have long walks, jog or cycle along coastal routes?Behind the Salinera Hotel, there is path leading from Strunjan to Piran. It runs through a forest and through the coastal settlement of Fiesa all the way to Piran.
There is a small bay surrounded by bushes in Fiesa, but the settlement is especially interesting for its two freshwater lakes.
You can visit the Strunjan Nature Reserve, or walk to the Mesečev zaliv (Moon Bay) or the Strunjan salt-pans, which are located just a few steps from the resort.
Due to its geological features, the Strunjan Nature Reserve plays a very important role in maintaining the ecological stability in the Gulf of Trieste.
The Mesečev zaliv (Moon Bay), which is an integral part of the Strunjan Nature Reserve, is considered by many to be the most beautiful Slovenian bay.
For those who enjoy nature, sea views, old wooden boats and fairytale-like places, we recommend walking or jogging along the Seška pot, which is a 4 km (2.5 miles) long path that leads from the Salinera Bioenergy Resort to Seča.
We recommend bikers to take a trip through the Strunjan valley and through a tunnel that leads to the centre of Portorož. The path runs along the famous old railroad - so called "Parezana" - that used to connect Trieste and Poreč.
Parezana operated from 1902 to 1935.
It ran through Italy to Koper, Slovenia, and along today's coastal road to Izola and Strunjan. From there, it ran through a tunnel to Portorož and Lucija.
You can also take a walk to Izola - you can choose the path that leads through the tunnel in the village of Jagode, or the path that runs through the Strunjan salt-pans, passes the Strunjan križ and then leads along the famous Strunjan cliff to the top of Belvedere, where you can enjoy the view of the sea and the Italian coast.
You can rent a bicycle at the Salinera Hotel. Bicycle rental prices are: 2.80 EUR for 2 hours, 7 EUR for 5 hours, and 12 EUR for a full-day rental.
